SPDG Tech is developing projects and employing new exciting environmental technologies around the globe. Most of these technologies are wholly based on agriculture and are therefore established within the rural economy. The resulting products deliver improvement in performance over existing materials, are environmentally friendly and are fully compliant with existing and proposed legislation. Take a brief tour of some of our main projects.

BIOCOMPOSITES

Biocomposites are advanced composite mat materials based on the use of indigenous natural fibres. Over 5 years, in South Africa and Spain, SPDG has sponsored the cultivation of a natural fibre crop and has been involved in the development of plants for both the processing of Kenaf and its forming into fibrous matting, a fully recyclable alternative to various man-made fibres.

NATURAL SOLVENTS

An investment in a low temperature process for the extraction of high value bioactive compounds and oils from all types of plant biomass (such as seeds, roots, bark, leaves or flowers) promises high returns given the current demand for environmentally sound extraction.

WATER TECHNOLOGY

SPDG has invested in a revolutionary technology capable of producing water from the humidity in fresh air. SPDG is also in negotiations with the owners of a technology to purify water of contaminants.

TECHNOLOGY ADVISORY

The in-house research capability that drives the technology investment generates its own revenue through consultancy contracts. In addition, SPDG is expected to become a formal Overseas Technology Transfer Company appointed by Korea Technology Transfer Centre, a Korean quasi-governmental organisation; SPDG will be a conduit for technologies and IP in and out of Korea for Europe and the Middle East.
