WATER TECHNOLOGYThe Mirage Water Maker extracts water from the humidity in the air, passes it through a vortex filter, which removes all contaminants that might have been present in the air sample, and stores the resultant pure drinking water in a designated tank. It is capable of producing 10 to 1,500 gallons of pure drinking water per day and will function where the humidity is in excess of 17% which is the case in most places on earth. The Mirage Water Maker removes humidity from the air by passing the moist air over a refrigerated dehumidifying coil. The moisture condenses out of the air on this coil and is then stored in the reservoir for future use. In this way it partially dehumidifies the air as well and stores the removed condensation as clean, pure water. Reducing the humidity makes air conditioning and heating work better and, in addition, the Mirage Water Maker continuously filters the air at the rate of about 280 cubic feet per minute. This should have the desirable effect of reducing the particulate matter in air that is breathed in. A truck-mounted version of Mirage is under trial with the US Army, having been selected after stringent testing, by a major defence contractor for its new range of military trucks. The truck-mounted unit, which would also have applications for the boat and leisure vehicle industries, will produce 10 gallons of drinking water per day. |
